In order to promote a region one must identify its unique characteristics, which can be communicated in a simple and direct manner. From this point of view, the Asti region presents itself as a heterogeneous territory made up of different areas, each with its own unique characteristics. We can therefore identify several main pillars which focus on the distinct characteristics of these areas.
A study of these lands has enabled us to divide the Province into four main areas:
This criteria has no doubt some limitations due to the need to characterise the pillars according to a few key concepts which thus become exclusive, even though various micro-areas (laws: Communes) perhaps would feel better represented by other values.
An example which applies to all is the "Culture & Enogastronomy (food and wine)" pillar: these values are not only present in towns classified under this pillar, but are found, to varying degrees, all throughout the Asti region. However, it is also true that they are particularly relevant in the towns classified under this pillar.
The pillars which have been identified correspond to the same number of "local products" which have become a branding system of this area.
