Description of the
landscape:
Gently ondulated argilliferous ridges
dedicated mainly to the production of cereals.
The vineyards here are not present in large quantities.
Historical evolution:
Roman settlement, it
belonged to the Church of Asti until it was handed over to the
Graffagni Family and then to the Marquis of Monferrato who named it
capital of his reign. It was given different names until it became
property of the Savoia family. In 1774 it was declared a city by
Vittorio Amedeo III of Savoia.
